Planning

This section presents a cohesive approach to curriculum planning that is student-centred, inclusive, and aligned with the Junior and Senior Cycle Art specifications. It includes thoughtfully designed Units of Learning, differentiated lesson plans, and a full-year curriculum map that fosters progression and continuity. Through implementing Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and the Studio Habits of Mind, my planning aims to promote autonomy, critical thinking, and meaningful artistic engagement.

Units of Learning

The Following are a selection of Units of Learning designed at both Junior Cycle and Senior Cycle in lined with their corresponding structures and specifications. The collection of Units spans a wide range of media across all three strands of Art, Craft and Design - each imbued with conceptual undertones linked to the students social and developmental contexts.

Lesson Planning

The following are examples of my methods for planning my lessons. Each plan places emphasis on the learning intentions, Assessment of Learning, Differentiation, Resources, Materials and Cleaning as well as Literacy and Numeracy links and targets.

Curriculum Plan

This Curriculum Plan has been developed for the 2025/2026 academic year. Spanning across both Junior and Senior Cycle, Unit proposals have been designed as a means of long term planning for the Art Department. This ensures that materials, site visits and guest speakers can be organised in advance as well as setting out how the learning outcomes for each specification will be met across their associated timeframes.
