Policy in Education

This section explores how national education policy shapes classroom realities, particularly in areas of educational disadvantage and student behaviour. Through critical policy analysis and reflective positioning, these projects consider the evolving and significant role of the teacher in implementing compassionate, inclusive, and equity-driven practices as key stake holders in the policy-making cycle.

Educational Disadvantage DEIS Policy Casing

This project critically analyses Ireland’s DEIS policy using the OECD Implementation Framework and Bridgman and Davis’s Policy Development Cycle. It highlights systemic challenges in addressing educational disadvantage and calls for more robust inter-agency collaboration and stakeholder engagement.

Behaviour and Restorative Practice

This project examines the evolving understanding of student behaviour through a restorative and regulation-focused lens. It considers how policy developments can inform compassionate, inclusive responses that better support student wellbeing and learning.
